ABOUT

From a very young age I have loved to sew and be creative, making clothing and bags out of paper until I got my first sewing machine at 9. I thrived in costume competitions in primary school and, determined to make something my own, even made a Tudor dress from a bin bag!

Moving into secondary school I studied Textiles, where I began to learn how to use different machines and a range of textile design techniques to create patterns. At GCSE I studied Product Design mixed with Textiles where I learnt about marketing a product to a target audience. During this time I was also practicing constructing garments in my free time using YouTube tutorials.

At College I studied Fashion and Clothing in which I further developed my garment construction knowledge, designing for fashion trends and helped backstage of the fashion shows, even modelling! I also studied Photography (I got to practice my modelling skills a lot), where I got an in-depth look into the world of both creative and marketing Photography.

Currently, I am studying Costume Design and Making at Nottingham Trent University which has allowed me to develop my research and design skills in order to think more in-depth and creatively. It has also taught me how to finish garments to the highest possible standard and, as an aspiring Costume Maker, I hope to be able to take my skills into a professional workroom.
